Künstler-Porträts und Statements

8. Andrew McKenzie aka The Hafler Trio, Reykjavik/Island

Thema: earth <-> body ("CLEAVE : 9 great openings")

Kurz-Porträt:

More than 20 years of activity in a multiplicity of realms both 'real' and 'imaginary' have both clarified and obscured many of the surfaces that have been externally applied to the work emanating from under that names' umbrella. What can be said with a small degree of certainty is that the aim progresses in its capacity to apprehend to a state where it need not actually manifest through the expedient facility of a signifier.

Without a doubt, what can be ascertained from looking at what it is that The Hafler Trio have supposedly 'done', is that what is completed by that act is something that was intentional; even if these factors do not serve as a platform for automatic consumption of the selfs' immediate impressions as food for secondary entities which survive essentially by proxy. The reciprocal is very active.

An extensive collection of Hafler Trio detritus and assorted opportunities for the consumption of such impressions as well as the forming of opinions divorced from 'actuality' are accessible, so to speak, and not without a recognition of the doubtfulness of their efficacy, at: http://www.brainwashed.com/h3o

Statement on "CLEAVE : 9 great openings"

a) HUMECTATION
dealing with periods of incubation; of possibilities of removal of factors pertaining to the opposite of direct manifestation; of eventual but not implicit decision between functionality on specific level[s]; of the conditions surrounding these; and the explicit call to an operative act of volition on other grounds.

b) DESICCATION
being an exposition of the requirement of a contradiction for the production of well-defined qualities; of the other tangential products of such a set of processes set into motion; and of another set of loci which give parameters as to an inverse ration essential to the establishment of favorable conditions for further pursuance of catalytic operations.

c) OLIGARCHY
a delineation of the effects of a sub-set of relevant traditions which can be extended as to bring about states conducive to a way of seeing aspects of the situation at hand; and a gap through which other matters might seep.

d) THE CAMPAIGN
comprehensive reportage of efforts made on behalf of circumstances not yet brought into a state of being, and yet now are due to the initiation of the impulse[s]; local colour is amply provided by means of a series of vignettes from witnesses and inhabitants of the region relating from their own vantage point the impressions related to the foregoing.

e) A CONFESSION
actual documentation of a series of confidences never intended for consumption outside an original framework; and the uses such indiscretionary revelations might be put to, in the event of intimate encounter with them.

f) ACTUALISATION
frankly partial index of results encountered before, during, and after miscellaneous stages of items at hand; various states of completion and transmission; various measurable and verifiable substantiations; and penultimate (but never to supersede this) evidence of suspicion of that very same evidence.

g) SOME UNFOLDING
an attempt at rendering in all fullness that which does not appear directly in indicated fashion; that which otherwise requires other devices and/or methods to apprehend; that which alters a faculty to the extent required at the incipient moment of what might be perceived as a juncture which it was only with extrapolation of capabilities.

h) POSSIBLE CULMINATION
demonstration by way of careful manifestation in replicatory fashion of the brink of that which cannot be presented in any other fashion; in some wise, a suggestion of that which assails some part of essence as an act of apprehensive fruition.

i) INVOLUTION (required)
the disassemblage for the purposes of burrowing into the active components rendered accessible by the act of the loosening of components with the frame of the present reference; the appreciation of the enabling of recombination held forth as practical discourse on the intrinsic nature of recombinants; and the transmigration of that normally held in one place to another.
